Match the HBA to the fabric
An 8Gb HBA negotiates down to 4Gb and 2Gb, and a 16Gb card to 8Gb and 4Gb, so a newer card is safe in an older fabric. The optics must match the card: our 8G and 16G short-wave SFP+ modules in the Fibre Channel section are the same parts these cards ship with from the OEM.
