Frequently asked questions
The questions we are asked most about buying optical transceivers in Kenya.
How does delivery work?
Every module is held in our Johannesburg warehouse, flown to Kenya overnight by DHL, and then delivered locally by courier. Nairobi normally takes 2 to 3 business days and the rest of Kenya 3 to 5. Delivery is free on orders over KSh 20,000. We also deliver elsewhere in Africa; ask for a quote and we will confirm the cost and time for your country.
Will this module work in my switch?
Transceivers are coded to a vendor, so a Cisco-coded module belongs in a Cisco switch. Send us your switch model before ordering and we will confirm the right part number. If we get it wrong, we swap it at our cost.
What is the difference between new and used modules?
New modules arrive factory sealed and we ship them on unopened, so the seal and the manufacturer packaging reach you intact. We do not bench-test sealed stock, because opening it would defeat the point. Used modules are professionally refurbished: cleaned, inspected, powered up and link-tested in matching hardware, then graded. Both carry the same 12-month Asetos warranty, and used optics typically cost 40 to 60 percent less.
How do I pay?
M-Pesa, Visa or Mastercard, or bank transfer. M-Pesa sends a prompt to your phone at checkout. Card payments are processed by Stripe, so your card details never touch our servers. Bank transfer suits procurement teams working from an LPO.
Do you offer a warranty?
Every transceiver carries a 12-month warranty. If a module fails within that period we replace it. The warranty covers the module itself, not damage from incorrect installation, power surges or physical damage to the connector.
Can I return a module if I ordered the wrong one?
Yes, within 7 days, provided the module is unused and in its original packaging. Contact us first so we can issue a return reference. If the mistake was ours, we cover the return courier.
Do you supply in bulk for projects?
We supply ISPs, banks, data centres and system integrators across Africa. For volume orders we offer project pricing, staged delivery and pre-configured coding. Request a quote with your bill of materials.
Are prices VAT inclusive?
There is no VAT to add. The price you see is the price you pay. That is worth checking against other Kenyan suppliers: most advertise their prices before VAT and add 16 percent at checkout, so a module listed at KSh 12,000 elsewhere actually costs KSh 13,920.
What if the part I need is not listed?
Send us the part number. We hold far more stock than we list, and we can source most transceivers within 5 to 10 working days.
