What "refurbished" means here
Every used module we sell is cleaned, inspected, powered up and link-tested in hardware matching the platform it is coded for. It is then graded on cosmetic condition only, because a module either passes the optical and electrical tests or it does not go on the shelf.
There is no moving part in a transceiver to wear out. A tested refurbished optic performs identically to a new one, which is why we back both with the same 12-month warranty.
When to buy new instead
If your support contract or tender requires factory-sealed parts with an unbroken chain of custody, buy new. If you are filling an access layer, building a lab, or keeping spares on the shelf, refurbished is usually the better use of the budget.
